How to Clean and Maintain Your PerfectDraft Machine
Jul 15, 2026
Why Cleaning Your PerfectDraft Machine Matters
A PerfectDraft machine is a precision appliance — and like any beer dispensing equipment, it performs best when it's kept clean. Regular maintenance ensures your beer tastes exactly as the brewer intended, prevents bacterial build-up, and extends the life of your machine. The good news is that PerfectDraft is designed to be low-maintenance, and a proper clean takes less than 30 minutes.
How Often Should You Clean It?
As a general rule:
- Between every keg: Clean the tap and drip tray
- Every 3–6 months: Full internal clean of the beer lines
- If storing unused: Full clean before putting the machine away
If you notice any off-flavours in your beer, clean the machine immediately — don't wait for the keg to finish.
What You'll Need
- PerfectDraft cleaning kit (or food-safe beer line cleaner)
- Warm water
- A soft cloth or sponge
- A small brush for the tap nozzle
Step-by-Step: Cleaning the Tap
The tap is the most important part to keep clean, as it's in direct contact with your beer on every pour.
- Remove the tap nozzle by unscrewing it from the tap body.
- Soak in warm water for 10–15 minutes to loosen any residue.
- Scrub gently with a small brush to remove any build-up inside the nozzle.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely before reattaching.
- Wipe down the tap body with a damp cloth, paying attention to the area around the seal.
Step-by-Step: Cleaning the Beer Lines
The internal beer lines should be cleaned every few months to prevent yeast and bacteria build-up.
- Remove the keg from the machine and allow the machine to warm to room temperature if possible.
- Prepare your cleaning solution by mixing food-safe beer line cleaner with warm water according to the product instructions.
- Attach the cleaning kit to the keg connector on the machine.
- Run the cleaning solution through the lines by dispensing it through the tap into a bucket or sink.
- Flush with clean water — run fresh water through the lines until the water runs completely clear and odour-free.
- Allow to dry before inserting a new keg.
Cleaning the Drip Tray
The drip tray collects overflow and condensation, so it needs regular attention to prevent mould and odours.
- Remove the drip tray and empty it after each use or at least every few days.
- Wash with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Allow to dry completely before replacing.
Cleaning the Exterior
Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can scratch the surface. Pay particular attention to the area around the keg compartment, where condensation can collect.
Storing Your Machine
If you're not planning to use your PerfectDraft machine for an extended period:
- Complete a full beer line clean before storing.
- Remove the keg and leave the keg compartment open for a few hours to dry out completely.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Beer tastes off or sour: Clean the tap and beer lines immediately. If the problem persists after cleaning, the keg may be past its best — check the freshness indicator.
Machine is leaking: Check the tap nozzle is properly attached and the keg is correctly seated. If leaking continues, contact Philips support.
Temperature not reaching 3°C: Ensure the machine is in a well-ventilated location with at least 10cm of clearance on all sides. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near a heat source.
